Indie Legends James To Perform at Open Air Theatre

British indie band James are the latest act to be confirmed for the 2015 season at Scarborough's Open Air Theatre.

Part of the Britpop scene James are behind some of the biggest anthems of the nineties and will be appearing at the OAT on Friday 22 May 2015.

As well as singing some of their biggest hits, including Sit Down, She Is A Star, Laid and Getting Away With It All, the band will also perform material from the latest, critically acclaimed album La Petite Mort.

James have  had an impressive 20 Top 40 singles in the UK and their 1998 'Best Of' album debuted at No 1 in the UK selling almost 1 million copies.

In 2007 news that the original line-up had reformed resulted in over 35,000 tickets being sold in just 2 hours for their UK tour. Since then the band have continued to tour and, earlier this year, released their new album La Petite Mort to critical acclaim.

Cllr David Chance, the council’s Cabinet Member for Tourism and Culture said:

"This is the second of two great acts we've announced this week, both excellent but very different, continuing our approach to bringing a wide range of quality acts to the Open Air Theatre that appeal to different audiences."

Tickets to see James at the Open Air Theatre are priced at £35 and will go on sale from 9am on Friday 26 December at The Sands office or by visiting, or

Tickets will also go on sale on Saturday 27 December at local tourist information centres in Filey, Scarborough and Whitby. A booking fee per ticket sold will apply.
