Global singing sensation Alfie Boe is heading to Scarborough's Open Air Theatre next year as part of a special Last Night of the Proms concert.

Organised to coincide with Armed Forces Day 2015 the Last Night of the Proms concert will take place on Saturday 27 June 2015.

As well as the talented tenor the concert will also feature the harmonious voices of the Military Wives Choir York, who will make a welcome return to after their popular performance last summer.

Cllr David Chance, the council’s Cabinet Member for Tourism and Culture said:

"We don’t mind admitting that Alfie Boe has been on our wish list for some time, so we’re delighted that we've been able to secure him for next season."

"Alfie’s concerts sell out all over the country and I’m confident that the prospect of one of his stunning performances in the wonderful setting of the Open Air Theatre will make tickets a ‘must buy’ for many concert goers."

Boe has sold over a million albums in the UK and will perform classic tracks with his orchestra from all his albums, including Granada, God Give me Strength, Luna Malinconia (Blue Moon) and Nessun Dorma.

Tickets for the concert, priced at £30, will go on sale from 9am, Saturday 13 December.
