Scarborough Open Air Theatre Confirm Blue & Atomic Kitten Double Bill

Blue & Atomic Kitten

Scarborough Council have confirmed this morning that the latest acts booked to appear at the Open Air Theatre will be Blue and Atomic Kitten.

Organisers had hoped to keep the special double-bill under wraps, but the beans were spilled early after a few eagle-eyed folk spotted that Ticketmaster had accidentally published the event early.

Although the ticket sales website were quick to remove the show from their listings, it had already been reported to the Evening News who shared details of the event on Facebook last week.

The unique collaboration of two of Britain’s most successful pop groups will take place on Saturday 29 August and will feature the bands’ biggest hits.

Blue have sold over 15 million albums worldwide since they found fame in 2001 with their Top 5 single, All Rise. In all they went on to have three number one albums, including collaborations with Elton John and Stevie Wonder.

Atomic Kitten fans can expect plenty of nostalgia as the original line-up of Natasha Hamilton, Kerry Katona and Liz McClarnon take to the stage at the OAT next summer.

Cllr David Chance, the council’s Cabinet Member for Tourism and Culture said:

"Blue and Atomic Kitten are top pop acts that have each built up a loyal fan base of millions since they first formed."

"It’s fantastic that part of their exciting plans for 2015 include a visit to the Open Air Theatre here in Scarborough.  We look forward to welcoming both bands for what is set to be a fabulous night’s entertainment on the Yorkshire coast."

This latest announcement follows two other shows already confirmed for the 2015 season.

Legends of Pop 80s will see Rick Astley, Sinitta, ABC, Go West, Five Star and Undercover take to the stage on Saturday 1 August 2015 and reggae band UB40 Reunited will perform at the venue on Friday 14 August 2015.

UB40 Reunited features singer, songwriter Ali Campbell, vocalist, percussionist and trumpeter Astro and keyboard player Mickey Virtue, all founding members of the original UB40.

Tickets for Blue & Atomic Kitten and Legends of Pop 80s are priced at £35 with tickets for UB40 Reunited priced at £32. You can purchase tickets from The Sands office in Scarborough’s North Bay, at tourist information centres in Filey, Scarborough and Whitby and from the Tourism Bureau.

Tickets can also be purchased from (01723 821888) (0844 844 0444) and (0114 223 3777).

Tickets for the Blue & Atomic Kitten show will go on sale from 9am, Saturday 13 December.
