New Years Day Dip Scarborough 2015

Thousands of spectators turned out to watch over 100 people take part in Scarborough's New Year's Day Dip this morning.

Now in its 22nd year the traditional dip in the North Sea is organised by Scarborough Lions Club to raise money for charity.

Prizes were awarded to the best dressed, with fancy dress costumes including a bottle of Jägermeister, Danger Mouse, Spiderman, Miss Piggy and even Eurovision Song Contest winner Conchita.

Speaking to the BBC, organiser Alan Deacon described weather conditions on South Bay as "mild" adding that the dip would be back in 2016 as it was a major fundraiser and is "growing every year".
