Award-Winning Edinburgh Fringe Show 300-1 Returns to Stephen Joseph Theatre

Fresh from a US and Canadian tour, Matt Panesh is back on the UK circuit and will perform his award-winning Edinburgh Fringe show at the Stephen Joseph Theatre in April.

Following performances of Love Hurts Actually and Murder Mystery, Matt Panesh, also known as the comedy rhymester Monkey Poet, returns to the SJT in 300 to 1.

The show won the Three Weeks' Editor's Award at the 2014 Edinburgh Fringe and with 3000 eligible shows and 10 awards, poetically, the odds against it were 300-1.

300 to 1 was developed at the SJT last summer by Matt Panesh and director Gareth Armstrong through the theatre's Artist Residency scheme which supports the creation of new writing, it now comes back to be performed on the McCarthy stage. After the interval there will also be a bonus stand-up poetry show as the hard-hitting and cheek-achingly funny Monkey Poet delivers an electrifying set.

Matt Panesh said:
"The experience of being in a working theatre to develop my own show had a profound effect. The resulting show won me my first award at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and it's the show I'm proudest of. There's no doubt working at the Stephen Joseph was crucial in that."
300 to 1 can be seen at the Stephen Joseph Theatre on Tuesday 14 April at 7.45pm. Tickets, priced from £10 to £15, are available online at and from the Box Office on 01723 370541. Under 30s’ tickets at £6 are available in person from the Box Office on proof of ID. Suitable for ages 16+.
