Black Comedy 'Mugs' Arrows' Comes to Stephen Joseph Theatre

Mugs Arrows

Critically acclaimed theatre company Third Man Theatre are on tour with a new black comedy, Mugs' Arrows.

The latest play by writer Eddie Elks, author of Botallack O’ Clock and Stalag Happy, is showing at the Stephen Joseph Theatre, Scarborough on 26 and 27 March.

Set in a pub somewhere in the hills, two locals return to see off an old friend, throw a few darts, drown their sorrows and try to make sense of it all. Just your average night down the boozer. Or not...

Mugs' Arrows is a surreal black comedy set in very ordinary surroundings. It delves in to a world that is on the change, exploring the depths of the human psyche - love, loss, friendship and darts, leading to hilarious, strange and ultimately disturbing results...Game On!

The play premiered at the Bike Shed Theatre in Exeter before transferring to London’s Old Red Lion Theatre last year. Previous Third Man Theatre productions have included Stalag Happy, which won a Spirit of the Fringe Award in 2009 and most recently Botallack O’Clock, a black comedy which was shortlisted for Time Out’s Best Fringe Show 2011 and transferred to New York as part of the Brits Off Broadway 2013 festival.

The cast features Eddie Elks whose television credits include Game of Thrones and Vikings. He is joined by Patrick Molyneux who appeared in the BBC series Call The Midwife and played Dan McHerron in ITV’s Emmerdale, and Polly Hughes, seen in the national tour of Birdsong and in I.E.D at London’s Riverside Studios. The production is directed by Ken McClymont.

Mugs’ Arrows can be seen in the McCarthy at the SJT on Thursday 26 and Friday 27 March at 7.45pm. Tickets, priced from £10 to £15, are available from the Box Office on 01723 370541 and online at Under 30s’ tickets at £6 are also available in person from the Box Office on proof of ID.
