New Local Craft Fair Kicks Off This Weekend at The Everley Cafe

Everley Craft Fair

This weekend sees the first of a monthly craft fair to be held at the Everley Cafe in Hackness.

The new event will offer a large variety of local crafts and talents, including organically made health products, hand crafted jewellery, chiengora knitting (a yarn spun from dog hair) plus much more.

Unlike similar events, the Everley Craft Fair is to be held on a regular basis with different stall holders attending each month. This means that those who are unable to attend one month won't miss out and those who'd like to go every month will see something different each time they visit.

As well as the fascinating products on show, craft fans will also be able to enjoy a nice meal or a drink whilst sitting out in the garden over looking the valley or, during cooler months, in the lounge area next to a cosy log fire.

Everley spokesman Tom Harrison said of the event:

"Having a large variety of of crafts and products is of huge importance, after all we are aiming to showcase the talents of Scarborough and what better way than promoting a craft which is unheard of anywhere else!"

"We also want to promote the craft fairs as less of a fair and more of a genuine community event or a day out for the family. As it is held every month, those who do come every month - both stall holders and visitors - will get to know one another and crafters can create a rapport with their customers as well as improving networking between the stall holders themselves."

The craft fair will be held in the dining room so those who have come to eat and relax can do so in a comfortable environment in the lounge, where as those who want to shop are just in the next room to all the action.

Mr Harrison added:

"The Everley is very much a family run business. We've always been a creative family and, as long as I can remember, my mother has always enjoy crafting, one of the main reasons we decided to do the craft fair."

"We also wanted to incorporate a more personal feel to the cafe, so once a month this gives us a chance to do something differently - aside from just being in the culinary business."

"Scarborough has so much to offer and if we can accommodate a lot of people trying to promote their handiwork, why not?"

"We've been absolutely flattered by the response we thank everyone in Scarborough for the interest and support in the event. March and April are already fully booked and we have lots of bookings every month until September!"

Future plans include hosing craft stalls outside under a marquee in the summer months as well as a local art fair featuring local artists.

The Everly Craft Fair is set to be held on the second Saturday of every month with stalls are available to local crafters from just £10 for the entire day from 10am until 5pm.
