Local Causes Benefit From Cashbuilder Challenge

Cashbuilder Challenge

Three local charities and good causes have benefited from the dedicated fundraising efforts of Scarborough Borough Council staff.

Sands, the stillbirth and neonatal death charity, the Legs for Angel appeal and Whitby and Scarborough Dog Rescue have each received £745.77 raised through a cashbuilder challenge set up by the council’s Customer First and Tourist Information Centre teams.

During 2014 and earlier this year, the teams raised a total of £2237.31 by arranging a variety of fundraising events including cake sales, pub quizzes and breakfast mornings.

Vicki Hanley and Lynne Ritchie, Scarborough Borough Council Customer Services Team Leaders said:
"The challenge was a way of bringing all our teams from Scarborough, Whitby and Filey together and raising money for our three chosen causes at the same time. We originally set a challenge of £600 to be split three ways but after the fantastic success of our first event, we raised the bar on our fundraising efforts and our target amount. The challenge has been hard work but a lot of fun too and we’re delighted at how much money we've been able to hand over to three very worthy causes. We would like to thank all who contributed including team colleagues, other council staff and the members of the public that attended our fundraising events."
