General Election 2015 - Results for Scarborough & Whitby Constituency

Robert Goodwill of The Conservative Party has been duly elected as Member of Parliament for the Scarborough and Whitby Constituency in the 2015 Parliamentary Election, retaining the seat that he won in the 2005 and 2010 election.

The count took place through the night in the Grand Hall at Scarborough Spa, and the result was announced just before 5.25am on Friday 8 May.

The number of votes for each of the six candidates were:

  • Michael Beckett Liberal Democrats - 2,159 (4.52%)
  • Juliet Boddington Alliance for Green Socialism: Save NHS - 207 (0.43%) 
  • Sam Cross UK Independence Party (UKIP) - 8,162 (17.10%)
  • Robert Goodwill The Conservative Party - 20,613 (43.18%)
  • David Hugh Malone Green Party - 2,185 (4.58%)
  • Ian Alistair McInnes Labour Party - 14,413 (30.19%)

The turnout for the constituency was 65.19%.

The number of ballot papers rejected was as follows:

a. Want of official mark:  0
b. Voting for more candidates than the voter was entitled to:  101
c. Writing or mark by which the voter could be identified:  1
d. Being unmarked or wholly void for uncertainty: 84

Total number of spoilt votes:  186
