Newlyweds Jonny and Emily Smith had an unexpected guest at their wedding last weekend as the world's only airworthy Vulcan bomber performed a flypast over Scarborough Spa's open air Suncourt on Saturday.

The iconic, delta winged nuclear bomber aircraft was making an appearance as part of Scarborough Armed Forces Day, but was inadvertently caught on camera by wedding photographer Mark Tierney.

Mrs Smith, a doctor, said:
"I'm pleased to say the plane flew over as my bridesmaids walked down the aisle. It disappeared and then came back as I stepped on to the altar, so I did get some of the attention."
"Everybody was laughing at what we were seeing. It flew right through Scarborough Bay, it was pretty spectacular."
Town planner Mr Smith, 30, said:
"The registrar told us in the morning that the Vulcan would be flying over. We feel very, very lucky to have had that at our wedding. They said they felt lucky to have had the display at their wedding, adding it made the day even more special"
"Luckily it was all at the beginning of the ceremony so it didn't affect anything. It was very loud."
'It flew overhead, it was pretty impressive. Not everyone can say they've had a flypast at their wedding."
"It became a special feature of our wedding, everybody was talking about it all day and I'm sure it will be something that nobody will forget."
