Scarborough Seafest 2015


This weekend welcomes Scarborough's Annual Seafest Maritime Festival.

Now in its 17th year Seafest features events for the whole family including live music, cooking demonstrations and children's workshops and entertainment - all free!

Officially the festival kicked off on Friday night with live music from local musicians, but the main event kicks off on Saturday morning.

Here's a full list of what's happening when.

Seafest Kitchen


A line-up of top chefs from around the region will be giving free cookery demonstrations on both Saturday and Sunday in the Seafest Kitchen Marquee, located on the West Pier on South Bay.

Great British Masterchef and Michelin Bib plus AA Rosettes Chef Darren Curson, from Raithwaite Estates will start the event with the first cooking session.

The Whale


Ahoy there shipmates! The Whale is coming to town, and beneath its gleaming, silvery surface there be surprises for intrepid sailors! Fun for all ages and fully accessible for wheelchair users. Brought to you by acclaimed theatrical inventors Talking Birds. Prepare to dive!

Music Lineup


There will be free live music over the whole weekend on the Music tent located on West Pier.

Headline acts include - Hope & social, Grand Theft Audio and The Shamrockers.

There's also free activities all weekend for the whole family on West Pier and North Wharf, South Bay Scarborough.

Saturday


10am - 12 noon Marquee 1 North Wharf South Bay - Art drop in – Children’s Workshop.

10am - 4pm North Wharf - The Whale - A giant metal Whale which swallows audience’s whole, to enjoy a charming, playful and submersive theatre experience inside.

10am/ 12pm / 2pm - Walkabout Animated Objects.

11.30/1pm/3pm - Walkabout - Lobster - Giant lobsters take over! As evolutionists predicted, the new masters of the planet have arisen from the seas.

A surreal and endearing walkabout with huge impact riding in a cart pulled by a charismatic character; the inflatable lobsters are a sight to behold.

12 noon - 2pm Marquee 1 North Wharf - Sea themed Storytelling.

12.30pm - Seaside-themed Mass Ukulele Busk

2 - 4pm Marquee 1 North Wharf - Art drop in–Children’s Workshop.

2- 4 pm Marquee 1 North Wharf / Beach Hidden Horizons – Rock Pooling Session sign up at 2pm.

2 – 4pm Marquee 2 Hope and Social – Musical Workshop. Bring along your instruments to get involved. Book your space by calling 01723 384545. Please note: Hope and Social will be performing at 8:30pm on Saturday.

2pm / 4pm Marquee 1 North Wharf then onto the Beach - Hidden Horizons – Rock Pooling Session- Sign up at 10.00am.

9.45pm - Grand Firework Display, South Bay

10am - 12 noon Marquee 1 North wharf - Art drop in Children's workshop.

10am - 12 noon Marquee 2 North wharf - The Cloud Collector

10am - 4pm North Wharf - The Whale - A giant metal Whale which swallows audience’s whole, to enjoy a charming, playful and submersive theatre experience inside.

10am / 12pm / 2pm - Walkabout - Animated objects - Doris and the Deep.

11:30/1/3pm Lionfish - -Normally found lurking in the depths of the ocean, Lionel and Leona the Lion Fish have surfaced to entertain us all.

Watch in awe as these two brightly-coloured sea creatures on stilts wander through the crowds, like fish out of water!

12 noon - 2pm Marquee 1 North Wharf - Sea themed storytelling.

1pm - 4pm Marquee 2 - Jewels of the Sea - Jewellery making for adults.

2pm - 4pm Marquee 1 North Wharf - Art drop in - Children's workshop.

2pm - 4pm Marquee 1 / Beach - Hidden Horizons - Dinosaur footprint walk - Sign up at 2pm.
