‘Wish You Were Here’ Postcards Exhibition at Woodend

Postcards from Woodend

The Gallery at Woodend will launch a postcard exhibition on Saturday 25th July.

Local amateur, emerging and established artists have produced miniature artworks that will be displayed at random, creating a spectrum of colour on the gallery walls.

'Over 100 artists have responded to our open entry exhibition', says guest curator Angela Chalmers. 'It's a great opportunity to purchase an original artwork by top local professional artists at a very affordable price'.

Each piece will be on sale for only twenty pounds and will be available to immediately take away. Artists from around the region as well as the North and South, have submitted artworks no larger than a 6 x 4 inch postcard.

Andrew Clay, Director of Woodend said:
"It was an exciting day when a parcel of postcards arrived from a young artist in America. We have since had them from Australia too, which is an incredible achievement for the gallery. We are donating £1 for each postcard sold to Cancer Research UK. This is to further support the great charity work of one of our tenants Neil Fitzpatrick."
In addition, Woodend are running a mini-version of the postcard exhibition with a wall available for children. Blank postcards and pencils will be made available to allow anyone who fancies having a go for him or herself. A prize will be offered to the best in show at the end of the exhibition.

The exhibition runs all summer from 25th July until 18th September. Gallery opening times are Monday – Friday 9am – 5pm. Saturdays 10am – 4pm.
