Scarborough Spa Orchestra: Three Tenors In Concert

Three Tenors

For the first time, this year's Three Tenors performance on Thursday 27th August will take place in the Spa Grand Hall where the perfect acoustics will make the experience of listening to such wonderful voices even more thrilling.

For many years, hundreds of people have packed Peasholm Park to hear the Scarborough Spa Orchestra's Three Tenors concert.  It was always a thrilling occasion, but listening to the tenors' voices amplified across the Peasholm lake was never going to be as real and exciting as hearing them in the concert hall – up close and personal, as it were.

The venue may be different, but the music will still be all that you would expect from a Three Tenors performance.  There will be some of the best known tenor arias from famous operas such as La Donna e Mobile and, of course, Nessun Dorma.

Another section will feature the tenors singing popular romantic numbers from stage and film musicals like Kismet and The Student Prince.

The show will also include some of the songs of Mario Lanza.  He was a tenor who hardly ever appeared in opera, but had an amazing film and recording career singing the sorts of songs that people wanted to hear, and his back catalogue of recordings is constantly being re-issued.

At another point in the evening, the Three Tenors will pay tribute to the golden age of Viennese operetta with some of Franz Lehar’s irresistible melodies such as Girls Were Made to Love and Kiss.

If ever there was something for everyone, this fantastic evening will have it all, plus the pleasure of hearing the amazing voices of three of the best professional tenors around:  Jeffrey Stewart, Paul Badley and Geraint Dodd.

Tickets for 'Three Tenors In Concert' are priced at £11, with children going free with a paying adult.

Tickets are available from The Spa’s Box Office (01723) 821888 and via www.scarboroughspa.co.uk
