Performing Arts School Continues to Grow in Scarborough

PQA Scarborough

Budding young performers from around Scarborough have been taking part in musical theatre, comedy & drama and film & television sessions every Sunday, for almost a year.

The Pauline Quirke Academy of Performing Arts for 4-18 year olds is based at Graham Lower School and has already offered some unique and exciting opportunities to its students.

Principal James Aconley said:

"We really pride ourselves in offering really fantastic opportunities and experiences for our students. We've only been open since this time last year, and we’ve already taken our students to perform at the Scarborough Open Air Theatre throughout the summer and in front of Pauline Quirke and a full house at the Grand Opera House in York."

PQA also boasts an impressive range of extra experiences in the arts for its students. Over the past year, PQA Scarborough students have had the opportunity to work with a West End performer and choreographer in a We Will Rock You masterclass, produce and star in their very own short films, work alongside cast members from a local pantomime and attend castings for professional roles in theatre, film and television.

The PQA team have already planned an incredible series of events for the new academic year.

James said:

"We've been really busy over the summer holidays planning the upcoming year at PQA. Over the coming months, our students can look forward to taking part in a full Academy production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream, exciting industry professional masterclasses, further Trinity College London exams and a red carpet cinema event where we’ll screen the students’ film work in a professional cinema."

If your child is aged 4-18 years old, why not bring them along for a completely free, no-obligation taster session at the Academy. For further details, contact James Aconley on 07753 179070, email or visit us online at
