Scarborough Rotary club presents an uplifting concert with The Pearl of Africa Choir at the Stephen Joseph Theatre, Scarborough on 7 October.

The Pearl of Africa choir is an internationally acclaimed group who promise to entertain with a concert packed full of fun, fine vocals, drumming and dance.

The choir is made up of fifteen 9-18 year olds from the Kampala and Masaka districts of Uganda. They perform concerts and workshops in the UK each year to help raise awareness and the desperately required funds to sustain and improve the standard of education, health care and living conditions in their schools.

David Oliver, Scarborough Rotary Club President, said:

"Young people are the future of any society and this young choir is determined to promote self-esteem and educated well-being to their country's youth. Such determination is to be admired and applauded.  Please show your support by coming to watch their brilliant performances."

Pearl of Africa Child Care Ltd is a UK charity which supports the Molly and Paul Childcare Foundation, an organisation established in 1983 to build homes and schools for orphaned and destitute children in Uganda.
