Ghostly Goings-on at Scarborough Art Gallery for Halloween

Scarborough Art Gallery this Halloween

Terrifying tales of gallery ghosts are on offer at Scarborough Art Gallery this Halloween.

On Saturday 31 October – also known as All Hallows Eve, the night when spooks and ghouls and other scary things walk abroad – the gallery will welcome its very own ‘ghostbuster’, whose job it is to clear an infestation of phantoms.

Visitors will be sent to explore the haunted gallery by torchlight, find the poor souls in torment and discover how they died, then collect a ‘manifestation’ from each to help fuel the ghostbuster’s ‘dephantomolemeter’.

Ghosts at the Gallery is a free event from Scarborough Museums Trust in conjunction with the Stephen Joseph Theatre’s OutReach department. It starts at 7.30pm, and is suitable for children from the age of ten – but not for anyone of a nervous disposition.

Ghosts at the Gallery is part of Museums at Night, a twice-yearly event run by non-profit cultural publisher Culture24 which invites all UK museums, galleries and heritage sites to thrown open their doors after hours to showcase their treasure in unexpected ways:
