Scarborough Sixth Form College Ranked 14th in the Country
In a table of top performing colleges compiled by The Times newspaper, Scarborough Sixth Form College has achieved 14th place.
The table contains the top 20 sixth form colleges, out of more than 90 in the country, and is ranked on the proportion of students achieving AAB at A level in two or more facilitating subjects. These are academic subjects which are sometimes used for selecting candidates by Russell Group and high ranking universities. The main facilitating subjects are:
- Maths and Further Maths
- Languages (modern and classic)
In 2014 Scarborough Sixth Form College was ranked 23rd so it has risen an impressive nine places in only a year. This is great news for the college which has been going from strength to strength in recent years with some excellent A level and BTEC results this August.
Principal Marcus Towse commented:
"The College is performing well on all key measures, and our students make very good progress in their studies. This measure recognises that talented academic students at the College are achieving the highest grades in their A level subjects"
In addition to performing well in A levels, Scarborough Sixth Form is one of the top colleges in the country for BTECs with over 90% of students achieving the top grades of Distinction or Distinction Star. This September the college launched two new vocational courses; BTEC Dance and BTEC Engineering and are building a new Dance Studio which is due to open next month.
