Jesse Hutchinson and Connor & Nathen Take The Mic in Coastival Music Nights
Coastival Music Nights return to the Stephen Joseph Theatre in the New Year with guitarist and folk-rocker Jessie Hutchinson supported by singing and beatboxing duo Connor and Nathen on 8 January.
It is the latest gig organised by Coastival and the Stephen Joseph Theatre and takes place in the theatre bar from 8.30pm.
Scarborough-based duo Connor and Nathen will get the night started mixing Connor Lawlor’s acoustic singer-songwriting style with Nathen Walters’ beatbox and rap before Jesse Hutchinson takes the mic.
Jesse has been playing the guitar and singing for over 20 years and is renowned for his passion, sweat and sheer enthusiasm for the music. A popular performer on the local scene, last year he was voted Yorkshire Coast’s Best Solo Act on the entertainments website Yorkshire Coast Gigs.
There will be more music with Coastival and the SJT on 5 February with former BBC Radio Yorkshire Songwriter of the Year Award Winner Anna Shannon and Leeds-based electro-punk pop act Suzy Blu.
Anna is an accomplished multi-instrumentalist and a regular on the folk circuit in the UK and Europe. Her compositions, musicianship and distinct voice are admired by folk traditionalists and maritime and shanty enthusiasts alike. She is joined by Suzy Blu who return following Coastival 2014 with their mix of heavy old school beats, feedback-drenched melody, and experimental driving bass. Their live set of ‘80s drum machines synchs seamlessly to a backdrop of psychedelic projections and film.
Tickets to Coastival Music Nights at the SJT are £7.50 and are available online at www.sjt.uk.com, from the box office on 01723 370541 and on the door. Food and refreshments will also be available from the Bistro restaurant on both nights.
