Scarborough Art Gallery Joins The Big Garden Birdwatch
Scarborough Museums Trust is encouraging budding birders this month with a weekend of events to tie in with the RSPB’s Big Garden Birdwatch.
This important survey helps the wildlife charity keep track of some of the nation’s favourite birds.
On the weekend of Saturday 30 and Sunday 31 January, Museums Trust staff will be on hand at Scarborough Art Gallery to lead groups bird counting and identifying in the Gallery’s gardens. Meanwhile, inside the Gallery, there’ll be drop-in sessions for all the family with bird-themed arts and crafts between 10.30am and noon, and 1.30 to 3pm both days.
Scarborough Museums Trust’s Education Officer Rosie Goodwin says:
“The gardens around the Art Gallery are alive with wonderful birds, so we’re delighted to be able to contribute to this important event.”
The Big Garden Birdwatch aims to bring participants closer to nature, and is suitable for all ages and abilities. More than half a million people from across the UK are set to take part by counting the birds in their gardens. For more information visit www.rspb.org.uk
