Old Parcels Office at Scarborough Railway Station to Host Pop-up Cinema
The Old Parcels Office at Scarborough Railway Station will be transformed into a cinema, including multiplex size screen, state of the art sound system and a range of themed food and drink stalls later this month.Classic cult British Film ‘Withnail & I’ will be “coming on holiday by mistake” to Scarborough on Saturday 27 February 2016 when Pop-up Cinema Yorkshire launch their 2016 programme of events.
Pop-up Cinema Yorkshire are part of Scarborough based company Sant’Angelo Events who have previously been responsible for the hugely popular Beached Festival, Scarborough’s Open Air Theatre and the annual firework spectacular ‘Starfire’. Their cinema screen has been ‘popping-up’ around Yorkshire for the last two years, but this is the first event of this kind in Scarborough.
The movie Withnail & I, staring Richard E. Grant and Paul McGann tells the story of two out of work London actors trying to escape the rat race with a disastrous holiday to Penrith. It is considered to be one of the all-time classic British movies.
Operations Director Jon Robinson said,
“We are hugely excited to be one of the first events in the newly reopened Railway Station Parcels Office. It not only gives us a chance to showcase our pop-up cinema, but also for the public to experience this wonderful space. It is also happens to be my all-time favourite film.”
Tickets are available online at www.ticketsource.co.uk/popupcinema priced at £7.50. Only a limited number of tickets are still available, and early booking is essential to ensure a chance to be part of this one off screening.
