Show Your Love for Peasholm Park
The Friends of Scarborough’s Peasholm Park, the volunteers who help to look after the park, are calling on local people to share their love of the much treasured green space by attending an event to find out how they can lend a hand. The group is holding an open meeting on Tuesday 22 March at 7pm at Ebenezer Church Hall, Columbus Ravine. They would like to meet people who have ideas to share about the future of the park and Peasholm Glen, with a view to finding new volunteers to help look after the park for future generations.
Anyone who would be happy to offer a little help should attend the event to learn how to get involved. Jobs the volunteers do range from litter picking to helping with the development of the tree warden scheme, which assists with preserving the rare and champion trees and shrubs throughout the park and Peasholm Glen.
Sheila Johnson, Scarborough Borough Council Community Environment Assistant said:
“Everyone loves Peasholm Park. It may be the perfect place for exercise, for a quiet stroll, to feed the ducks or to listen to a band on a sunny Sunday afternoon. Generations of Scarborough folk have so many happy memories of it, so we’re asking those interested in helping to keep it wonderful for future generations to come forward.
“Volunteering is a great way to give something back to your community. You can choose where and when you give your time and fit it around your family and lifestyle. Best of all, it's a great way to make new friends who share the same ideals.”
Everyone is welcome to attend the meeting. Further details are available from Sheila Johnson on 07961 966617 or by email to email@example.com
