Alpamare Appoints Head of Operations for New Scarborough Water Park
Alpamare UK has made its first senior appointment for the multi-million pound state-of- the-art water park it will be opening in Scarborough this summer.Scarborough-born Vicki Jones has been appointed to the position of Head of Operations and will be responsible for the day to day management of the water park, which will be thefirst of its kind in the UK, creating around 100 new jobs.
Vicki has a wealth of skills and experience in the leisure and tourism industry, including previous management posts at Whitby Leisure Centre, Scarborough Indoor Pool and the former Atlantis water park.
Representing an investment of around £14 million, Alpamare Scarborough, which is being constructed above the stunning coastline of the town’s North Bay, is expected to attract up to half a million visitors a year and is on schedule to open in July.
The alpine themed water park will feature four thrilling water rides on a par with those found at premier water parks in Dubai and Florida, offering up to 2,500 rides per hour on four-person floats, two-person tubes, racing mats and body slides. The attraction will also boast 480sqm indoor wave pool, luxury spa suite for the ultimate in spa experiences, 200sqm outdoor family pool, 170sqm outdoor iodine infinity pool - a pool heated to 36°c with massage jets to help enhance health and well-being, restaurant, terrace and landscaped gardens with sunbeds and luxury ‘day cottages’.

Newly appointed Vicki has been a Royal Lifesaving Society Lifeguard Trainer/Assessor since 2004. She is married to RNLI Area Lifeguard Manager, Matt Jones, with whom she has two children. When she’s not swimming, Vicki enjoys mountain biking with her family on the Yorkshire coast and across the North York Moors.
