Seaside Walk Week Returns For Second Year With Special launch Walk in Scarborough

Seaside Walk 2016

Seaside Walk Week returns this spring for its second year, encouraging the nation to explore the Great British coastline with family and friends.

The walks will take place across the May Spring Bank Holiday week, with an official launch walk at Scarborough. We hope this will encourage people across the UK to spend time together at the seaside whilst raising awareness and funds for Family Holiday Association and enable more struggling families to enjoy the benefits of a holiday by the sea.

As you may know, The Family Holiday Association helps struggling families get a break - anything from a simple day out to a few days at the British seaside. The families we support face some of the toughest challenges life can bring, from severe and sudden illness in the family to abuse or bereavement. We believe that spending quality time together as a family results in stronger, healthier and happier families and communities.

If you need a short passage to include on your website, then please use the below:

Expert guides from Hidden Horizons will be on hand at points along the route to share fascinating facts about the local history, geology and wildlife. As the tide goes out, walkers can stroll along the beach, explore the rock pools and even find dinosaur footprints (yes, really!) in the exposed rocks at the front of the Spa.

Starting at the Sun Court Café in the surrounds of the Grade II listed Scarborough Spa, the walk will follow the South Bay towards the harbours. Passing the Headland en route to the North Bay, walkers will get the chance to pause at North Bay Railway for free water and cakes before returning to the Spa via the same path.

The walk will be at a leisurely pace, with plenty of opportunities to take in the beautiful seashore and local surroundings. Avoiding roads, it is perfect for walkers of all ages and suitable for off-road/all-terrain child buggies.
