Time to Vote For Your Favourite Park

It’s time for people to vote for their favourite park in the Borough of Scarborough to help show how much the nation loves its parks.

The experts have had their say and in July Pannett Park in Whitby, Glen and Crescent Gardens in Filey and Falsgrave Park and Peasholm Park in Scarborough were each given a prestigious Green Flag Award.

The Keep Britain Tidy award scheme is now asking the nation to have its say and decide which parks and green spaces should receive the People’s Choice Award for being the UK’s favourites.

Whether people enjoy visiting a park or green space to play football, walk the dog, exercise or simply get away from the hustle and bustle, if they think their favourite deserves to be in the top 10 People’s Choice then they should cast their vote.

To vote, people should go online to and find their park on the winners map and click the voting button. Once they’ve registered their vote, they can encourage others to get involved too through social media using the hashtag #PeoplesChoice.

Cllr Martin Smith, Scarborough Borough Council Cabinet Member for Leisure said:

“Each of our borough’s parks has its own special appeal and collectively they provide residents and visitors with some of the most wonderful open green spaces in the UK to enjoy all year round. Please get voting for your favourite and help us put our borough on the People’s Choice Award map.”

Voting closes on 30 September, with the top 10 sites being announced on 16 October.

Paul Todd, Green Flag Award Manager said:

“This year 1883 parks and green spaces met the tough standards demanded by our Green Flag Award judges but we want to know which parks the UK public love the most.

“The People’s Choice award is a chance to show how much your favourite park means to you. If it’s worth shouting about, make your voice heard and vote now.”
