A Dance Show With a Difference

Do you have a little one who loves to dance?

Have you ever wondered about what actually happens in the class?

What the teachers are like?

Where might it lead?

This Saturday afternoon at the YMCA Theatre, Yorkshire Coast School of Ballet will throw open their doors with their 70-minute matinee.

YCSB Principal Helen Held says "It is a lovely way to get the children used to being on stage, in preparation for our big performance at Easter and for them to be inspired by our senior pupils. Pupils and parents can enjoy watching the selection of dances that we have prepared especially to entrance and enthuse our youngest pupils."

Their programme starts with excerpts from 'The Sleeping Beauty' performed by the older pupils. Then class by class the younger pupils take to the stage to demonstrate, with their teachers, some of the usual exercises they do in class.

There are two opportunities to watch-

13:30 is ballet plus contemporary jazz minis and 15:30 is ballet plus Junior Boys Only class.

This weekend also sees the students of the school take to the stage to showcase their own choreographic work, in the school's annual Choreography Competition and Evening of Dance.

Students between the ages of 6 and 18 have worked hard over the past few weeks to put together steps, music and costumes to perform on stage, in front of a panel of judges.

Tickets are available here  or from the YMCA Box Office 01723 506750
